Dear District Governors,
To cover mailing costs, the RI Board recently approved an increase in the price of international subscriptions for The Rotarian to US$2 per issue effective 1 July 2008.
Please note that, despite significant increases in printing and distribution costs, this is the first increase in international rates since 1991. It is also considered a standard industry practice that international magazine subscription rates are higher than domestic ones.
We are aware that this may impact some members’ choice of magazine subscription. As a courtesy, we are giving you this advance notice so you can forward it to any clubs in your district whose members may be subscribing to The Rotarian. This will enable them to make an early decision if they may want to change their subscription due to the anticipated increase. The current rate is US$1 per issue, charged on each club’s Semi Annual Report.
The RI Board recently reaffirmed that all Rotary clubs are required to subscribe to The Rotarian or a certified regional magazine. We have observed that some member clubs in Philippines periodically change their subscription between the Regional Magazine (Philippines Rotary) and The Rotarian as is their prerogative.
To ensure that the 1 July Semi-Annual Reports are accurate we ask that any Rotarians or clubs wishing to cancel their subscription to The Rotarian please do so before 1 June 2008. To cancel the subscription
1) They should send the request to data@rotary.org with the member details.
2) They should then contact Philippines Rotary magazine directly to subscribe.
